The INTERBBS program is used by the InterBBS capable Sunrise Doors to
facilitate the exchange of score files AND messages between any number of
BBS'. You can be either a HUB, REGIONAL or a NODE.
An accompanying file called, INTERBBS.TXT, gives you all the information you
will need to use Sunrise-80 BBS as your HUB (optional as you may use anyone
or set yourself up as a HUB).
This ZIP (IBBSxx.ZIP) will be in every InterBBS Door ZIP file. However, to
ensure that you stay up-to-date with the latest breaking news look for
IBBSxx.ZIP as a standalone file.
NOTE******* The .MSG file in your Door Directory will be PURGED AUTOMATICALLY
when you run INTERBBS. Messages are purged every 30 days and this
value is NOT configurable. 30 days should be more than enough to
catch any dupes that might be sent by other systems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
InterBBS requires that you have an INTERBBS.CFG file in the Door directory.
You can CREATE (NOT Modify) it manually or use the enclosed IBBSCFG.EXE
answer a few questions and have the program create the file for you. To
execute INTERBBS type:
INTERBBS
The following defines each line in the CFG file. The InterBBS program allows
you to comment a line by placing a semi-colon (;) in the first position of the
line. The CFG file layout follows:
;InterBBS DOOR Name
MONTE
;DOOR CFG Name
MONTE.CFG
;HUB or REGIONAL or NODE
NODE
;Location of IBBSNODE.HUB (Leave BLANK if NODE)
C:\UTILITY
;Location of INCOMMING InterBBS file(s)
C:\IBBSIN
;Location of OUTGOING InterBBS file(s)
C:\IBBSOUT
;Location of INTERBBS.LOG file
C:\UTILITY
;Location of NETMAIL directory if you wish to place files on HOLD for NODES
;to pick up via a frontend mailer. Leave line blank if not using a
;front-end mailer.
C:\IM\MAIL
;
;The following 4 entries are relevant ONLY if you are a NODE and run a Front
;End Mailer AND have defined a path to a NET MAIL directory (line 8 of this
;file). If NOT then leave blank.
;
;
; Place outgoing file on HOLD (Y or N)
Y
; CRASH file to HUB (Y or N)
N
; The NODE Address (Your Address) Format> Zone:Net/Node
1:133/410
; The HUB's Address . Format> Zone:Net:Node
1:133/410
;The following 2 entries relate to whether you want to ZIP the output files,
;from ALL Doors, into ONE file to transmit to your HUB or to your NODES
;
;ZIP file Name (Maximum of 12 characters and MUST contain an EXTENSION) or NONE
NONE
;This entry serves to tell InterBBS whether you wish to update the ZIP file and
;send the file via file attach OR just update the ZIP file
;N=Update the ZIP file, Y=Update ZIP file and if using a FrontEnd Mailer Send
;the file. If you are NOT using a Mailer then use N. If you are participating
;in a number of the Sunrise InterBBS Doors, you would use N for all the Doors
;EXCEPT the last one you process... in which case you would use Y
N
If you are a NODE you would upload your InterBBS files DIRECTLY or via a Front
End mailer to a HUB where all consolidation would take place. If you are a
REGIONAL you can have as many NODES as you wish. Each NODE would send their
INTERBBS files to the REGIONAL who in turn combines them and sends them on to
the HUB. In turn the REGIONAL would then pick up the most current combined
score files, from the HUB, and make them available to the NODES. In this way
only the REGIONAL has to make a call to the HUB. A REGIONAL MUST maintain the
node number assigned by the HUB but may assign any numbers to their NODES.
Once a NODE or REGIONAL receives their file from the HUB, they would run
INTERBBS again to import the new updated scores OR wait until they are ready
to do an EXPORT... INTERBBS can be run ANY number of times during the day!
IBBSNODE.HUB File
-----------------
(REQUIRED for Regionals and Hubs)
-------------------------------
When running as a HUB or REGIONAL, you MUST create a file called IBBSNODE.HUB.
This file will contain NODE Number, STATE or COUNTRY abbreviation code and
BBSNAME information for each BBS participating in the InterBBS game(s).
The location of the IBBSNODE.HUB file is defined in the INTERBBS.CFG file. If
you are running more than one of the InterBBS Sunrise Doors, we recommend that
you have ONLY ONE IBBSNODE.HUB file.
You can create the IBBSNODE.HUB file manually OR use IBBSHUB.EXE (for creation
ONLY), answer the questions and have the program create the file for you. The
IBBSNODE.HUB file layout explanation follows:
Column 1-3 : InterBBS Node ID Number. MUST be 3 digits (ie: 010)
Column 4 : Blank
Column 5-7 : 2-character STATE or 3-character COUNTRY abbreviation indicating
where the BBS is located. If you are in the United States then
you must use the STATE abbreviation; if you are outside the US
then use a 3 character COUNTRY CODE. This field MUST be a total
of 3 characters. If you are entering 2 characters, the third
character must be a BLANK. This field will be displayed at the
end of each BBS name displayed in the High Scores for EACH
InterBBS game. If it does not show then it means that the Door
program has not been updated (they will all be updated so be
patient).
Column 8 : Blank
Column 9-43 : BBS Name of participating BBS. The name MUST match the BBSname
in the Door's CFG file
Column 44 : BLANK
Column 45 : Uses a Front End Mailer (IM, FD, etc) Y or N
An answer of Y means that the Sysop of this BBS will POLL for
the InterBBS file or that you will CRASH the file to them.
If the answer to this is N then there is no need to answer the
rest of the questions below!
Column 46 : BLANK
Column 47 : Place file on HOLD via Front End mailer Y or N
If this is a Y then column 49 must be an N. Both columns can
NOT be the same.
Column 48 : BLANK
Column 49 : CRASH file to NODE via Front End mailer Y or N
Column 50 : BLANK
Column 51-63 : Destination NODE Address Format= zzz:xxxx/yyyy
Column 64 : BLANK
Column 65-77 : HUB's Address Format= zzz:xxxx/yyyy
Column 79-101: Whether or not the Node is participating in this InterBBS Door
Place a Y in the appropriate column of the Doors the Node is
participating in and an N in other columns. A breakdown of each
column/Door follows:
Column 79 MONTE Column 80 DOMINOES
Column 81 TRIANGLE Column 82 OVERUNDER
Column 83 WORDZEE Column 84 KENO
Column 85 LADDERS Column 86 BOXPOKER
Column 87 BOXDICE Column 88 PAIR3
Column 89 HIROLL Column 90 BETSY
Column 91 GROAN Column 92 SWEEPS
Column 93 RESCUE Column 94 YAHTZEE
Column 95 BBDICE Column 96 CONCENTRATION
Column 97 ACEY Column 98 STAIRWAY
Column 99 WORDWAR Column 100 HILO
Column 101 CRIBSQ
Column 102-104: Blank
Column 105 : ZIP ALL InterBBS Door Output inot ONE ZIP file Y or N
INTERBBS.LOG File
-----------------
An INTERBBS.LOG file will be created in the directory defined in the
INTERBBS.CFG file. This file logs the actions taken, errors encountered and
files being acted on.
Monthly Top 10 Score File
-------------------------
A file will be created at the end of each month by the HUB, for each InterBBS
Door, that will list the Top 10 scores from the prior month. The file will use
the Doorname defined in the INTERBBS.CFG file plus an extension of "T10" and
will be placed in the OUTGOING directory defined in the INTERBBS.CFG file.
The file should be made available for Node downloading as is the combined
score file. The individual Door games will look for the .T10 file and will
display it to the player!
